Rossotrudnichestvo launches its Japanese project with “Study in Russia!” online conference hosted by UdSU

On October 22 Russian International Humanitarian Cooperation Agency (Rossotrudnichestvo) organized the first in the series of “Study in Russia!” online conferences within the framework of “Study in Russia!” project. The project aims to acquaint Japanese students, teachers, representatives of mass media with Russian universities and the system of Russian education in general.

The Udmurt State University had the honour of opening the project. The Japanese audience was introduced to the Udmurt Republic, the city of Izhevsk, its industrial and cultural scene.

The attendees of the conference took great interest in UdSU language programmes: international summer schools, courses of Russian as a foreign language. Some of them have just taken the first steps in mastering the Great Language, some speak it fluently and use for professional purposes.

The Japanese audience was surprised to learn that Udmurtia is a birthplace of the great Russian composer P.I. Tchaikovsky and a world-class skater Alina Zagitova, and that a company of Japanese ballet dancers is working in the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

Igor Titov, representing the Rossotrudnichestvo agency in Tokyo, noted that the city of Izhevsk is one of the points on the itinerary of Japanese delegation planning to visit Russia during the Year of Inter-regional Exchanges and to establish cooperation links. Japanese universities, in their turn, put forward the idea of youth cultural exchange programme.

We are looking forward to welcoming our Japanese students in Russia, and especially at the Udmurt state University.
