On April, 17-18, 2024 the Udmurt State University hosted the International Forum “Russia – China: Prospects for Scientific, Educational and Economic Cooperation” dedicated to the 35th anniversary of establishing ties with Chinese universities. The UdSU initiated the Forum as our university was the first HEI to have signed a cooperation agreement with Fuzhou University in 1989. The years 2024 and 2025 are declared by President Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping as Cross Years of Culture between Russia and the People's Republic of China that found its reflection in the programme of the Forum.
The forum was organized with the support of the Government of the Udmurt Republic. The co-organizer was the Business Development Corporation of the Udmurt Republic. The Forum Programme included a scientific conference, round tables, skills development trainings for students, business games and a job fair for students. The mentioned events focused on the broad agenda of shaping educational policy in the republic, building effective mechanisms for interaction between universities, enterprises and authorities, and the implementation of universities’ social mission in the development of the region. The forum attracted participants from Udmurt Republic, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Moscow, Brest and partner universities in China - Dalian University and Beijing University.
At the opening of the Forum the participants were greeted by Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic Aleksey Bratukhin, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kazan Xiang Bo, and Head of the Department of Joint Educational Programs of Dalian University Ms. Xie Jiasi. UdSU students majoring in Chinese and Chinese students studying at Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University welcoming performances.
Rector of Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R.E. Alekseev, co-chairman of the Association of Universities of the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation and the provinces of the Upper and Middle reaches of the Yangtze River of the People's Republic of China "Volga-Yangtze" from the Russian side, Sergey Dmitriev introduced the activities of the Association. There were also reports from universities on the current issues of scientific and educational cooperation and from business representatives on the experience of attracting foreign students to the development of foreign economic activity.
