International Dialogue in Modern Education

On October 29, 2019 Round-table conference “International Dialogue in Modern Education” was held within the framework of the VI International Week at UdSU.The event was aimed to discuss the results of the 25 years of partnership between Udmurt State University and University of Granada (Spain) and University of Helsinki (Finland) as well as to present modern tendencies in education.

One of the UGR-UdSU cooperation achievements is manifested in launching a bachelor programme in the Spanish language at Udmurt State University in the 2000 and later in introducing Spanish into schools curricula in Izhevsk. To demonstrate how popular the new subject with schoolchildren is a musical performance in Spanish was given by pupils from Izhevsk Lyceum #25 whose teachers are UdSU graduates.

Then UdSU Vice-Rector for Research and Strategic Development Alexander M. Makarov gave a greeting speech, mentioning that international relations development is one of the major aims of UdSU. Tatiana Yu. Lutsina, the assistant of the Russian State Duma Deputy Alexey E. Zagrebin, outlined the role of UdSU professors and staff in attaining great results in academic partnership with international HEIs.

Minister of Nationalities Policy of Udmurt Republic Larisa N. Buranova said that international relations are really important and necessary in our modern world. It is a huge resource for ethnographical innovations of our region.

Head of the Department of Professional Education and Science of Ministry of Education and Science of Udmurt Republic Elena V. Nikitina thanked Udmurt State University for its contribution to the regional scientific development, praised the UdSU Rector Galina V. Merzlyakova with the letter of commendation, and wished the university a great success in further development of international relations.

Rector of University of Granada, prof. Pilar Aranda Ramirez told the audience about the University and its history, concentrating on of international relations. Prof. Pilar Aranda Ramirez mentioned that Moscow State University and UdSU are in priority of the international relations strategy of the University of Granada. It was underlined that partnership with UdSU gives Spanish students an opportunity to get a double degree diploma in Philology.

Vice-rector for internationalization of University of Granada prof. Dorothy Kelly shared the perspectives of the two universities partnership, pointing out that academic exchange program will be easier to participate and will embrace other spheres in addition to education.

The final speech of the conference was by Mari Saraheimo, doctorate student of the University of Helsinki, who shared the experience of the Finnish university on student self-government.
